Sensitive

The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/122113.cfm) reminds me to ask myself if I am sensitive enough to God’s visitation in my life.

In the gospel we see Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth, and as soon as Mary greeted Elizabeth, both John (the baby in Elizabeth’s womb) and Elizabeth recognized Mary’s special presence. Unlike the people in the town of Jesus who rejected him because they knew where he came from (thus their lack of faith only enabled a few miracles), Elizabeth recognized God as he comes in familiar forms and people. She was able to look past her young cousin and see God at work in Mary, coming to visit her to serve her.

God visits us in familiar forms – through our family, relatives and friends. If we will not be able to look past these familiar people in our lives, we will not be able to see God visiting us, and hear God’s message of love for us.

May we be sensitive enough in the different ways God visits us, especially those we think are normal.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for visiting me in different ways. Thank you for always reaching out to me. Lord, I am sorry for the times I am not sensitive to you, times when I expect you to conform to the ways I want to be visited. May I always be sensitive Lord. Amen.

Blessed day!

In Christ,
-g-
