The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/021514.cfm) reminds us that Jesus takes care of our physical needs too, aside from our spiritual need.
In the gospel, the crowd came to Jesus for spiritual food, spiritual nourishment. They wanted to know about God. So they spent time with him - three days. Jesus of course gave them what they wanted and taught them. However, he knew they also needed physical nourishment. They also need food. The crowd did not ask for it, but Jesus knew they were hungry and they needed to eat before they go home, so he gave them food.
He knows our physical need as well.
As we serve Him, as we come to him for spiritual nourishment and growth, he gives us that. However, it is nice to be reminded that God knows our physical needs as well, even if we don't ask it or don't pray for it. He knows we need food, we need resources to survive on earth, so he will give us that, even without us asking those.
Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another weekend. Lord, I thank you for knowing me, for knowing I have physical needs as well. And I thank you because I know that even if i dont ask you for those things, you will still provide for me. Amen.
