Love

The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/091714.cfm) reminds me that God is love.

The first reading is all about love. It is one of the most used readings in weddings. This may make it sound like a cliché, but it's true when you take a deeper look at it.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It is not jealous, love is not pompous,
it is not inflated, it is not rude,
it does not seek its own interests,
it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury,
it does not rejoice over wrongdoing
but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

And if you change the word "love" with "God", then it really becomes more true. Yes, we all know that God is all that, and more.

The reading also states that the other gifts are incomplete without love. Even with faith, hope, and love, the greatest is love. This reminds us that love should be the foundation of everything. That our actions should be rooted in love. That our intention should always be love.

God is love, and as his children, we are also reminded to do and be the same. May we spread God's love in our lives.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for another chance to love and serve you. Thank you for another chance to experience your love. Lord, I pray that I may be able to share and spread your love, as a testament of the love I have been receiving in my life. Amen.

Blessed day!

In Christ,
-g-
