Too Busy

The WORD today (see http://usccb.org/bible/readings/112914.cfm) reminds me that we should never be too busy with the concerns of the world.

They say that one of the main weapons of Satan is busyness. It is very easy to be busy, and drown in the concerns of this world. Work, school, business, health, relationships – these are some of the things that keep us busy. We tend to work hard to be able to get well in life, to be able to provide for our family. We tend to be workaholics to get ahead in our respective careers. These things can become our main priority in life, that we forget God. We give him the backseat of our lives, and just wait until we’re all settled, or retired, before spending time for and with him. This is what Jesus warns us with in the gospel.

Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy
from carousing and drunkenness
and the anxieties of daily life,

It is easy to forget God. It is easy to be busy. It is easy to be worried about worldly concerns – bills that need to be paid, education, shelter, food, and health. It easy to enjoy ourselves to escape the harsh realities of life. It is easy, but foolish.

God will come again. May we never forget him and may our lives tell him that He has his place in our hearts.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for another chance to love and serve you. Thank you for another weekend. Lord, I pray that you always remind me of you. May I never forget you, to do your work, to do your will, despite all the craziness in this world. Amen.

Blessed weekend!

In Christ,
-g-
