Powerful Prayer

The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/030114.cfm) reminds me how to make our prayer powerful.

Sharing an excerpt of the first reading:

The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful. Elijah was a man like us; yet he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain upon the land. Then Elijah prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit

Wow. Wild. Ibang klase.

Elijah is one of my favorite prophets. Indeed, a true man of God with faith that can literally bring down rain and fire! How powerful his prayer is! How deep his faith is.

So inspiring. How can we have such faith? How can we have such powerful prayer?

Today God tells us how. Be righteous. Be right with God. Be a man of God. Do what God wants you to do. Like what James told them people, Elijah was a normal human being just like us. But he was right with God. He was close to God. That made his faith strong. That made God pleased with him. However, It does not mean anything he prays for will be given him. These things just mean that God is able to enter his heart, his life, and as God does so, Elijah's prayer became what God wants him to pray for, that's why it was so effective.

May we be inspired.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for another opportunity to love and serve you. Thank you for another weekend to rest. Lord, help me be like Elijah. May i always be right with you. May I grow deeper in love with you, for i know that it will build my faith, and it will allow you to change me, change my priorities and my prayer, which will make it more effective and powerful. Amen.

Blessed weekend!

In Christ,
-g-
