Faith

The WORD today (see http://usccb.org/bible/readings/030716.cfm) reminds me how powerful faith is.

It has been a while since I was struck with a message of faith, and though it is a usual topic or reflection on readings, it's refreshing to be reminded of faith again.

In the gospel, a royal official came to Jesus and asked Jesus to come home with him and heal his son. He had faith in Jesus power. And he was expecting Jesus to help him. However, Jesus answered differently. He hold the royal official to go home because the son will be well. How frustrating it must have been. He was not prepared for what Happened. It was not what he expected. Especially that he is a royal official who has powers at that time. But he put aside his doubts and feelings and believed in Jesus' words.

Faith is powerful.

Before he even got home, he was told his child was well. And he knew it was indeed the word of Jesus who healed the child. So his whole household was converted, for they experienced God's love and healing power. His actions, like the reminder of the psalmist to praise God, caused others to believe in God and praise God.

In life, there will always be challenges. And things will not always turn out as we hope and expect. However, we should always have faith in God. We should continue to pray and trust him in everything. And when his answer is different from what we expect, we just need to hang on to his word and have faith that he will take care of things in his own time, in his own way. And we should not forget to always thank Him and praise him, so others would know how great, loving and powerful he is.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for another chance to experience you. Thank you for the reminder. Lord, sorry for the times I lose faith in you. Sorry for thinking you cannot or will not do anything about a situation. Help me be like the royal official. Increase my faith. That I may continue to trust you no matter what the situation is. And as I do, use me to bring others closer to you. Amen.

Blessed week!

In Christ,
