Last Will

The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/042515.cfm) reminds me what Jesus’ last will is.

Some people prepare their last will and testament so when they pass away, what they wan to happen will be clear – the division of inheritance, actions to be done, etc. There are also some who are take the chance to personally say these things to loved ones before they pass away – the last “bilin or tasks/reminders. We know it is important when at the dying moments of someone, that’s what they talk about. In the gospel, we see Jesus’ last will – what he told his disciples before he was taken up to heaven.

Jesus wants us to proclaim the Gospel to every creature.

This is the last thing he said to his Apostles before he was taken to heaven, so we know how important this is to him. He wants us to go to the world and proclaim him, proclaim God’s message, proclaim God’s goodness and love. Proclaim God’s salvation. He also told them that there will be accompanying signs to those who will do his work. He will be with those who work for him, though he is not pjysically present.

In the first reading, we see one of the eleven taking this to heart. Peter did his best and proclaimed Jesus to everyone. He tirelessly worked to introduce Jesus to the world, despite the challenges and persecutions. Despite all the pain and hurt that came with it. And Jesus was pleased with him.

May we realize how important this is to God. And wherever we are, may we do our best to proclaim him and spread his message through our lives.

Father God,

Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. thank you for another weekend. Thank you for the reminder. Lord, If this is the last thing you told your apostles, then it must really be important to you. Help me have a willing heart to do what you want. I promsie to do my best to proclaim you to the people I encounter by the way I live my life. I ask that you help me and make my work, make my actions, and make my life pleasing to you and may I glorify you through it. Amen.

Reading 1 1 Pt 5:5b-14

Beloved:

Clothe yourselves with humility

in your dealings with one another, for:

God opposes the proud

but bestows favor on the humble.

So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,

that he may exalt you in due time.

Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.

Be sober and vigilant.

Your opponent the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion

looking for someone to devour.

Resist him, steadfast in faith,

knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world

undergo the same sufferings.

The God of all grace

who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus

will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you

after you have suffered a little.

To him be dominion forever. Amen.

I write you this briefly through Silvanus,

whom I consider a faithful brother,

exhorting you and testifying that this is the true grace of God.

Remain firm in it.

esus appeared to the Eleven and said to them:

“Go into the whole world

and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;

whoever does not believe will be condemned.

These signs will accompany those who believe:

in my name they will drive out demons,

they will speak new languages.

They will pick up serpents with their hands,

and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.

They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them,

was taken up into heaven

and took his seat at the right hand of God.

But they went forth and preached everywhere,

while the Lord worked with them

and confirmed the word through accompanying signs
