Guardian

The WORD today (see http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/041214.cfm) reminds me that God is our guardian.

The psalmist says that the Lord will guard us, as a shepherd guards his flock. A shepherd will do everything to protect his flock, and that’s what God will do for us.

The first reading tells us how God made a promise to guard and protect the Israelites. In the gospel we see that even if powerful people plot evil to Jesus, they are no match for the ultimate guardian - the Father.

Well, God must be serious when he tells us he is our guardian.

A lot of times we feel insecure or afraid. Situations intimidate us. Powerful people abuse us. However, we are reminded to trust in our ultimate guardian. Nothing and no one will come close to the love and power of God. Even if we may not feel him in our lives, he is always there, silently guarding and protecting us. His silence does not mean his absence.

May we be encouraged to always trust our guardian.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for another weekend. Lord, protect me and my thoughts. May i never doubt you in my life. In a special way I lift up all the souls who need prayers. Guard and guide them too, Lord. Amen.

Blessed day!

In Christ,
-g-
