The WORD
today (see http://usccb.org/bible/readings/041317-chrism-mass.cfm)
reminds me that I should wait for the fulfillment of God's plans in his
time.
Not a lot of people want to
wait, that’s why we have a lot of 'instant' things. Noodles, coffee, spaghetti
and even champorado. We want to have quick results. We want things fast. We do
not want to wait. That's why a lot of us get impatient waiting for God's plan
to happen in our lives.
In the first reading, we see a
passage from Isaiah, and in the gospel, we see Jesus reading that exact passage
and telling the people that that day, it has been fulfilled.
Masterpieces take time to complete.
No great thing happens
overnight. Nothing great happens instantly. It took time for the passage of
Isaiah to be fulfilled in Jesus time. It can take time, but God's promises will
always come true. In our lives, we may also feel the same way - that things take
time, that we have been waiting for so long, that it seems that nothing good
will happen. We should remember than until a masterpiece is finished, it does
not look good at all. But when it is finished, when everything comes to place,
we will see the beauty of the finished masterpiece.
Today we are also reminded that
God does not forget, and his promises will come true in his perfect time, not
ours. We are his masterpieces, and it might take time before his great and
perfect plan comes into reality. However, we should hold on to the promise,
that when everything comes to place, we will see the beauty, the masterpiece
that God intended for us.
May we continue to have faith
in God while waiting for his perfect time.
Father God,
Thank you for
today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for the timely reminder.
Thank you for this opportunity to pause, pray and reflect. Lord, I am sorry for
being impatient with your plans for me. I am sorry for wanting things to happen
my way, my time. Sorry for losing faith and hope. Sorry for focusing too much
on myself and what I want. Help me be more patient as I wait in faith,
Lord. I will continue to love, serve and have faith in you while I wait. Amen.

because the LORD has anointed me;
He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly,
to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
and release to the prisoners,
To announce a year of favor from the LORD
and a day of vindication by our God,
to comfort all who mourn;
To place on those who mourn in Zion
a diadem instead of ashes,
To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning,
a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit.
You yourselves shall be named priests of the LORD,
ministers of our God shall you be called.
I will give them their recompense faithfully,
a lasting covenant I will make with them.

Gospel Lk 4:16-21
and went according to his custom
into the synagogue on the sabbath day.
He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.
He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down,
and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them,
"Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."
