The WORD
today (see http://usccb.org/bible/readings/091616.cfm)
reminds me that there is no small deed as we serve God.
In
corporations, rewards and recognition are proportion to the position and
contribution. Big bosses tend to be rewarded and recognized more than normal
employees. This is why a lot of employees don't feel as involved and motivated
to excel. However, this is not the case as we serve God.
There is no
small deed as we serve God. He recognizes everything and anything we do for
Him.
In
the gospel, we see a lot of people following Jesus. We see different
contributions. Some are with him, preaching and serving, while some helped by
their resources. No matter what they can give, they all help build God's
kingdom. Jesus welcomed them all. And will reward all of them.
Sometimes
we may feel insignificant. Sometimes we may feel we don't amount to something
great. But God is reminding us that he will take whatever we can give. He welcomes
all. He will use us to build God's kingdom. And he will multiply our offerings
and use us mightily.
May
we not feel insecure as we do God's work, but feel empowered because God will
take what we give and use it to build God's kingdom on earth.
Father God,
Thank you for
today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for another chance to love
and serve you. Thank you for who you are. Lord, sorry for the times I feel
insecure. Sorry for the times I feel that I cannot give you something
significant. Lord, I just come as I am. I just offer what I can give you. And I
just have faith that you will use me to build your kingdom. Multiply my
offering and use me mightily for your purpose and glory. Amen.

Brothers and sisters:
If Christ is preached as raised from the dead,
how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead?
If there is no resurrection of the dead,
then neither has Christ been raised.
And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching;
empty, too, your faith.
Then we are also false witnesses to God,
because we testified against God that he raised Christ,
whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised.
For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised,
and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain;
you are still in your sins.
Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
If for this life only we have hoped in Christ,
we are the most pitiable people of all.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead,
the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
