The gospel today http://usccb.org/bible/readings/110811.cfm may seem harsh at first glance. And strict naman ng master na yan. Ganyan ba si Jesus? Di man lang ba sya mag thank you sa akin... Ang daming pasaway na tao, tapos ako na gumawa ng mabuti, yung sumunod sa kanya, di man lang nya papasalamatan o i gu-good job?
This certainly is not what Jesus is like. He is much more generous than we could imagine. The first reading says he made us into his own image, and he takes care of us. God sent his one and only son to die for us, to save us from our sins, however unworthy we are. So what is the gospel speaking about? Maybe it reminds us what our disposition should be. That we are no less than servants whom our master loves so much. We cannot accomplish anything by ourselves, so there's no reason to be proud. Whatever happens in our lives, whatever we accomplish and whatever good things we have done - is not something we should be proud of. This is something we're doing out of our love for God, our of our gratitude to Him. Let us remember that no one gives God better service than God deserves.
May we be inspired by the psalms. May we live our lives in praise and honor of Him. May we give him glory at all times.
God bless!
