The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/090214.cfm) reminds me how powerful Jesus word is.
I sometimes watch the TV show “Barter Kings” where people trade their stuff for better things. Of course, there are discussions and bargaining done, but what ultimately sets the deal is the “yes” of the person. No contracts, no attorneys, just the yes of the person. That’s how powerful a word is.
If a person’s word is powerful, how much more Jesus’
In the gospel, we see Jesus commanding an evil spirit to leave a person. No fancy words. No abra ka dabra. No magic spell or magic wand to have the demon come out. Simply an order from Jesus.
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!”
Then the demon threw the man down in front of them
and came out of him without doing him any harm.
Then the demon threw the man down in front of them
and came out of him without doing him any harm.
That’s how powerful Jesus’ word is.
However, his word is not just powerful in expelling demons. We see a lot of times, he healed people by his word. he even brought the dead back to life with his word. and until now, his word is still alive. The bible tells us of Jesus word. OF his promises and great plans for us. Of his protection, guidance and love for us. His powerful word is still true and alive until now. Question is, do we believe it.
He may not be physically present now, but his word is very much alive. May we continue to trust In his word.
Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. thank you for another day to love and serve you. Lord, I thank you for your word. thank you that two thousand years after your physical death on earth, your word is still alive, active and powerful. May I always have faith in your word. Amen.
Blessed day!
In Christ,
