The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/112713.cfm) reminds me that we should persevere in faith.
The gospel is inspiring. It provides a ray of light amidst the darkness. Jesus told them of challenges they would be facing, but he also assured them of God's guidance and protection. Only one condition - they need to persevere in faith. Jesus told them that God will guide them on what they are to say when persecuted so no need to prepare beforehand.
However, it does not mean they really don't have to do anything. They do - they have to continuously live a life according to God's ways. They need to be attuned to God, in synch with God... So they can hear his word.
God cannot speak to us if we don't know his voice. We cannot be guided if we do not recognize his voice. That is why Jesus told them that their perseverance will save them. We have to persevere in knowing him continuously, in praying, reading his word, partaking of the sacraments, so when challenges come, we would be sensitive enough and we know him enough to hear and recognize his voice.
Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another day to live. Thank you for all the blessings. Thank you for always being there to protect me. Lord, i pray that you help me have a persevering heart. May i always strive to improve my relationship with you. May I always seek you. May i always love you. Amen.
Blessed day!
In Christ,
-g-
