The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/112613.cfm) reminds me that worldly beauty is temporary
An excerpt of the gospel says:
While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, “All that you see here–
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Everything on earth is temporary. We saw that with the recent typhoon. Houses, buildings, cars, even ships, can be destroyed. Nothing is too strong or too powerful not to be destroyed. As such, we should not invest entirely on these things, on material things.
God wants us to invest instead on heavenly things, to things that will not perish with this world. Good works, faith, love – these are what will not perish, and will actually benefit us for eternity. In chasing worldly beauty, we should not compromise our values, because it is not worth it. Worldly success, things, fame and fortune are very temporary and are not things that we can bring to eternity.
May we be wise and not be blinded by the worldly beauty we see everyday.
Father God,
Thank you for today. thank you for another day to live. Thank you for the reminder not to be blinded on worldly things, worldly beauty. Lord, I pray that you help me be focused on you, and invest on heavenly things rather than earthly, temporary though more immediately experienced ones. Amen..
Blessed day!
In Christ,
