The WORD today (See http://usccb.org/bible/readings/100113.cfm) reminds me that we should not be controlled by our emotions, especially when we're mad.
Emotions are very powerful. They say our emotions even affect our health. And sometimes, our emotions make us do things we normally won't do when we're normal. This goes both ways, when we're so much in love, our emotions makes us do crazy but sweet things. on the other hand, when we're so angry, our emotions can make us do or say nasty things.
this is what happened to the disciples. After experiencing rejection and bad treatment from the Samaritan village, then wanted to punish them by calling down fire from heaven. That must be a cool sight, but not a good one. Jesus wants to teach his disciples that one, emotions should not take the best of us, and two, people should not be punished for rejecting him - here on this earth.
Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another month. As we enter the last quarter of the year, I pray that we continuously allow you to mold us to becoming servants after your own heart. May we not let emotions get the best of us, rather, have a firm faith on you as we experience challenges and rejections as we serve you. Amen.
Blessed day!
In Christ,
-g-
