Love for Prayer

The WORD today (see  http://usccb.org/bible/readings/123013.cfm) inspires me to have a great love for prayer.

In the gospel, we see Anna, after being widowed, spent her entire life in prayer. She never left the temple but worshipped and fasted day and night. So inspiring, and so challenging. She knew what is being said in the first reading:

Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever

She knew what mattered most. She spent her days loving and praying to God. So unlike people nowadays busy with a lot of things in the world that we tend to forget the essentials, the more important things in life.

We do not need to give up our current life and live like Anna. We should just remember the essential things in life, and not get carried away with the busyness of life. May we be inspired and challenged by Anna's love for God and prayer.

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for the reminder and inspiration. I am sorry for the times I get so busy with the things I need to do that I forget you. May I be wise like Anna, and have the same desire and love for prayer and for you as she does. Amen.

Blessed day!

In Christ,
