Remain in Him

The WORD today (see http://usccb.org/bible/readings/010213.cfm) reminds me that we should remain in Christ.

For most of us, it is back to normal. Back to reality. Work starts again. The 2013 work calendar starts today. Some Christmas decorations have been taken down (although the Christmas season is not officially over until Sunday – the Feast of the Epiphany). Holiday mode is slowly fading. However, we should continue to remain in Christ.

Christmas should not end with the new year, with us going back to work, to the daily grind of life. Christmas day may have passed, but our anticipation and preparation should continue. We should continue to prepare for Christ’s coming. We should prepare our hearts and be ready to welcome Him. We should continue to remain in Him and do our best to be ready for Him as he comes to us in different ways everyday.

May we be inspired by John the Baptist in the gospel, and continue to prepare the way for Christ until he comes. May we be faithful, so that we may have the confidence as John the apostle writes in the first reading:

And now, children, remain in him,
so that when he appears we may have confidence
and not be put to shame by him at his coming

Father God,
Thank you for today. Thank you for another year. Lord, I ask that you help me prepare. Help me to continuously prepare for your coming, to continuously prepare my heart to receive you when you come to me in different ways everyday. May my preparation for you not end on Christmas, but continue on this year and always. Amen.

Blessed day!

In Christ,
-g-
